35 years later at Fillmore East still great

Live rock albums have become a rarity in recent years. That may be because the success of certain legendary live recordings (like Frampton Comes Alive) is so immense that it would be almost impossible to try and surpass them. There is perhaps no better example of a great live album than At Fillmore East, the 1971 live recording by the Allman Brothers Band.

Van Halen remains popular, even after two decades

The years have not been kind to most hard rock albums released in 1984. The era of “hair metal” with its cheesy theatrics and crude subject matter is not highly regarded in today’s politically correct environment. But for Van Halen’s 1984, any criticisms should be thrown out the window as the album remains one of the best and most thoroughly realized releases of its time.
