Fire Alarm
Sunday afternoon, at around 4 p.m., Campus Police were dispatched to Boylston B for a fire alarm. Upon entering the building, the officers identified an odor of burnt food and observed the doors and windows of the room in question had been opened. Waltham Fire Department arrived on scene and confirmed that there was no fire. The residents will be charged with Causing an Accidental Fire Alarm.

At around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, officers were dispatched to Birch Hall for a fire alarm. Upon their arrival on scene, officers noticed there were no signs of smoke or fire in the area. When they entered the room that had been triggered the alarm, they noticed that a flat iron used to straighten hair was plugged in. The iron was then unplugged and the panel was reset. Room residents will be charged with Causing a Fire Alarm.

Medical
Officers were dispatched to the Smith Center Tuesday evening at around 5 p.m. for a report of a female student with stomach pains. The student reported that she had been to Health Services earlier in the day for the same problem and had been instructed to take medicine. She also informed officers she hadn’t had a full meal in several days. An ambulance was called and the student was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Just before 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon, officers arrived at the Dana Center for a report of an injured staff member. The injured worker informed officers that he had been playing pickup basketball in the gym when he attempted to catch a pass that resulted in his shoulder becoming dislocated. He indicated that it was a recurring injury that happened before during similar activities. The shoulder was set back into place and the staff member was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Theft
Sunday, at around 2 a.m., a student entered Campus Police to report a bag of personal items missing. She informed officers that the she had been waiting at Harry’s Corner on a bench when she noticed the bag was gone. She indicated the bag held a wallet which contained several credit cards. The bag was later returned by a friend of the female who had found it later on with all property intact. The case is closed.

7:30 p.m. Sunday evening, a resident entered the police station to report two travelers checks and a watch had gone missing from her room. The student informed officers she had noticed the checks missing after a large party in her apartment. The checks were valued at around $1500 and the student believed they had been cashed on January 31. Since the checks were not signed by the owner, the claim could not be processed by the company that issued them. The case is considered closed unless further information comes to light.

Just after noon on Monday, a student entered the police station to report several items missing from his room. He informed officers that his wallet had recently gone missing, while other items like a soccer ball and a jacket had been gone for several weeks. The student indicated his room was usually locked but a few of his friends had the combination. He was advised to get the room combination changed and the case is considered closed unless further information comes to light.

Wednesday afternoon, just before 5 p.m., a student entered the police station to file a report for a missing wallet. The student believed the wallet to have gone missing sometime around 9:30 p.m. in the library but didn’t notice it until the following day. There are no suspects and the case is considered closed.

Alcohol Violation
Sunday morning at around 2:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to Miller Hall for a report of an intoxicated male urinating in the hallway on a dorm door. Upon arrival, officers were informed the male had exited the hallway and was unconscious in another room. The male was lying in a bed in the room and was unresponsive to officers’ attempts to wake him. After a medical evaluation, it was determined the student did not need to be taken to the hospital. He will be charged with Underage Alcohol Violation and a Violation of University Rules for urinating in the hallway.

Suspicious Behavior
An officer parked outside of Cape House Sunday night at around 2:30 a.m. observed a bright green light coming from Fenway Hall. The small light was pointed in the officer’s eyes and then moved away. After occurring several more times, the officer noticed three figures standing in the window of a common room in the building and entered Fenway Hall to confront the residents. The student that opened the door claimed he had been asleep and that his roommates had left the room shortly before the officer’s arrival. The officer informed the student his roommates would be charged with Suspicious Behavior.
