Alcohol violations
Monday night, shortly before 10pm a staff member reported they had observed a student consuming alcohol during a function in LaCava. Police arrived and were unable to locate the student. Upon leaving the building, officers found the suspect carrying a backpack. When asked to open the backpack, the officers found a 12-pack of beer with some empty cans. The student will be judicially charged for “underage possession of alcohol”.
Saturday night, just before 2a.m., a male student police had been looking for from a previous incident was found on the Little Greenspace outside of Orchard South. The student was unsteady on his feet and slurred his speech. Police instructed the student to sit on the curb. The student was unable to remember how much he had been drinking but said he had been doing so all night. He was placed into protective custody and transported to the Waltham Police Department. The student will be judicially charged with public intoxication. Campus Police officials were unable to disclose the reason they were searching for the student due to an ongoing investigation.
At a liquor store around 11p.m. that same night a well being check was performed on a student in Birch Hall. The student informed officers that she had consumed alcohol, vomited, and then felt fine. Officers detected an odor of alcohol on her breath and administered sobriety tests which the student passed. She was determined to be capable of taking care of herself and will be judicially charged for underage alcohol consumption.
Fake ID
Off campus at 11pm Saturday night Campus Police received a call about a fake ID. The student was attempting to purchase a 30-pack of beer with a fake ID. The employee confiscated the fake driver’s license and the student’s Bentley ID. The student will receive a summons of court for false ID and will be judicially charged for possession of false identification.
Fire Alarm
Officers responded to a fire alarm in Boylston A at 7:15pm. They were approached by 4 students admitting to cooking and setting off the alarm. They will be judicially charged.
Medical
7:24p.m. Tuesday night, a student reported an injured knee from a pickup soccer game at the field hockey field. He informed officers that he had felt his knee pop in and back out but didn’t report feeling pain just stiffness. Officers encouraged the student to get checked out and provided transportation.
At around 9p.m. on Monday night a student arrived at the Police Station reporting ankle pain. He said he had been playing basketball in the gym. The ankle was bruised and slightly swollen. The student was given ice packs but refused further treatment.
Saturday around 2:40p.m. at the Newton-North Natick football game at the athletic fields, Campus police responded to an emergency call. Witnesses reported that a male had turned blue and went unconscious. When officers arrived they found the male sitting upright and responsive but pale. The victim said he had felt tired and dizzy and suffered a laceration to his left ear due resulting from the collapse. He was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
Narcotics
On patrol Friday afternoon at around 4:40p.m., an officer smelled marijuana coming from Lot 12 outside of Miller Hall. Campus Police discovered 3 males who had been smoking marijuana and displayed symptoms. They were also found to be possessing drug paraphernalia. Two of the students were from Bentley and will be judicially charged with possession and violation of the guest policy. The case is closed.
Theft
On Tuesday in Falcone East a student reported that his iPod iHome, a device for playing music from an iPod, had been stolen from his common area. The student explained that he’d had a gathering in his room the night before where they had used the iHome but didn’t know who might have taken it. The student requested the report be filed for a missing iHome and the case is closed due to lack of suspects.
Sunday at around noon a student reported theft of his Bentley issued laptop. He claimed he had rented a moving truck to move in and returned the truck but forgot the laptop behind a seat. When he went back to the company they informed him the truck had been rented out. The laptop was found by an employee at the rental company and returned on Monday. The case is closed.
Towing
Monday in Rauch lot 3 an officer was checking vehicles and found a non-renewable registration had expired. The car was towed and the owner was notified.
Harassment
A student called Campus Police Monday at 6:48p.m. to report that a former landlord kept calling regarding damage done to an apartment the student had rented over the summer. A group of students had rented the apartment and when they left the owner claimed the apartment had been damaged. Campus Police have closed the case unless further information comes to light.
Parents and rocks
A little after noon on Sunday a parent called Campus Police requesting information about the status of a student’s room that had been damaged from water from the previous night’s storm. The parent was referred to another department.
An officer was dispatched to Orchard South on Sunday at around 4:30p.m. for a complaint that someone had thrown a rock at their window. Upon arrival two students were found who explained they had been trying to see who could throw a rock the farthest. Only one student threw a rock which shattered the outer pane in a resident’s room. The students will be judicially charged.
