Season Recap: Football

The Falcon football team found themselves in an unfamiliar position coming into the 2007 season; they were coming off a mediocre 2006 season in which they posted a 6-5 recorded and posted a meager 14.4 points per game. Since the turn of the century, the Falcons have been more accustomed to putting up around 30 points and losing no more than three games in a season.

Season Recap: Women’s Basketball

In what has certainly been a both exciting and successful year for the Bentley Basketball programs, one of the Falcon teams was forced to end its season in mid-March in a rather bitter fashion, as the Women’s Basketball team fell to Assumption in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, PA on Friday, March 14.

Gendron leads Bentley barrage in 17-1 rout of American International

Senior Beth Gendron scored four goals and tallied her 100th career point to lead Bentley in a 17-1 rout of American International in Northeast-10 Conference women’s lacrosse action on Friday night at the Bentley lacrosse field. After the regular season finale for both teams, the Falcons end the regular season at 7-9 overall and 6-4 in conference play and will await tomorrow’s results to find out if they will be traveling to Merrimack or Bryant to open the NE-10 Tournament on Wednesday.

Campus Police concludes Citizens’ Police Academy

Bentley’s Campus Police department has recently concluded their inaugural Citizen’s Police Academy program. The ten-week program, believed to be only the second campus citizen’s police academy in the country, drew 12 attendees, including both students and staff members.

Public Intoxication
On Wednesday evening, officers received complaints of two male students sitting between Falcone North and Falcone East, drinking and shouting obscenities at passers-by. As officers approached, the students fled the scene . After a brief chase, one of the students was apprehended in Boylston.

Season Recap: Field Hockey

Winning has become synonymous with the Bentley Falcon field hockey team. The Falcons have reached numerous Final Fours, including one each of the last two years. This fall, the team enjoyed another successful campaign as they finished the year 15-7, 13-3 in conference and made it all the way to the Final Four before falling to the Umass Lowell River Hawks.

Bentley Baseball has been under the leadership of Coach DeFelice for the last forty years, who has taken a club sport to a Division II-caliber team, ant this year featured mixed results, but certainly presented some upside as well. The Falcons will be moving into their final regular season games this coming weekend with an overall record of twenty wins and twenty four losses.

Kelsey Vella named Northeast-10 softball Freshman of the Week

Bentley pitcher Kelsey Vella has been named the Northeast-10 Softball Freshman of the Week, the second time this season she has been so honored.
In three starts, Vella was 2-1 with a 0.64 ERA and a .160 opponents’ batting average. She pitched a six-hit shutout against Stonehill, defeated AIC 6-1 on a three-hitter, and blanked Pace for eight innings before allowing a ninth-inning homer in a 1-0 loss.

Rogowski scores four as #9 Merrimakc gets past Bentley, 10-6 in NE-10 tourney

Junior Greg Rogowski scored four goals to lead Merrimack to a 10-6 win over Bentley in the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Lacrosse Tournament on Tuesday night at Warrior Field. The Warriors, ranked ninth in the nation in this week’s USILA Division II Coaches Poll and the third seed in the tournament, improved to 12-3 and now advance to face second-seeded Bryant in the semifinals on Friday.
