During a rainstorm on October 5, 1995, Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass with me and 82,947 other people, the largest crowd to ever attend an event at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The Bishop of Rome, the spiritual leader of the Roman Catholic Church and head of state for the Vatican City, spoke in eight different languages during the event including Polish, Russian, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and English.

I’ve never been good with goodbyes. Well, who truly is? It’s difficult to let go of anything you hold dear. And now, I cannot believe that I will be saying goodbye to Nantes, to France, to Europe. I have made this place my home for the past four months and now its over.
