Yearbook $34K In Debt; Works To Improve

Faced with a debt of $34,000, the Vale yearbook is working to become profitable as it increases its staff and promotes the 2003 yearbook.

The debt, the majority of which was caused by the printing of the 2001 and 2002 yearbooks, is hampering the Vale from getting funding that it says it needs to put together this year’s yearbook.

Student Center: Polar Cap

As students returned from their Thanksgiving Break and made their way into the Student Center, the air inside seemed to be just as frigid as outdoors. Due to off-line boilers, and “because these boilers serve the entire building, the building temperature deviated from its normal standard degree range of 68-72,” says John Shenette, the Executive Director of Facilities Management.

Guster To Play At Bentley

In a continuing effort to bring popular bands to Bentley, the Campus Activities Board’s (CAB) Concert Committee is welcoming Guster on December 8.

Craig Benoit, Chair of the Concert Committee, says that Bentley will be Guster’s “last stop on their tour, and Guster’s notorious for doing all sorts of absurd things on the last night…”

Campus Police Log

December 5, 2002 News

On Monday, Nov. 18, Campus Police (CP) reported to the athletic turf on south campus after receiving a report of an injury. Upon arrival, officers observed a student on the ground holding his left wrist and complaining of pain. Officers noticed a swelling in the wrist that might have indicated a fracture. The student said the injury occurred while being tackled during an intramural football game.

Republicans: The Death Penalty is Not Severe Enough

Ever since Hammurabi first came up with the “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” rationale in ancient Mesopotamia, justice systems around the world have been harmonious in their belief that the punishment for criminals should fit the crime. Democrats: Be 100% Sure Before Pulling the Switch

One issue that people look at before choosing a candidate is their stance on the death penalty, which usually has nothing to do with political parties, but personal beliefs. Those in favor of it say it gets rid of criminals who do not deserve to live, discourages crime, and reduces our tax dollars because each person executed means taxpayers have to spend thousands less to house, feed, and guard that person.
