Yetten Breaks Record as Bentley Stays Undefeated

Peter Yetten became the winningest coach in New England Division II history as Bentley College, tied for 25th in the latest Division II poll, improved to 8-0 and extended its regular season winning streak to 12 with a 35-7 win over Plymouth State College in the rain on Saturday afternoon.

Lady Falcons Fly Past The Owls

The Bentley women’s soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Conference tournament for the first time since winning the championship in 1998, as they beat Southern Connecticut, 2-1, Tuesday afternoon.

After falling behind 1 – 0, the Falcons came back and scored two straight goals, one in the first half and one in the second, to upend the Owls and advance to take on the top seed Franklin Pierce College in the semifinals.

Falcon of the Week

After leading the Falcon volleyball team to three key Northeast-10 victories, junior setter Alyssa Carter has been selected as the Falcon of the Week at Bentley College. Carter averaged 9.33 assists, 2.89 digs, 1.89 kills, 0.56 aces, 0.44 blocks, and hit a lofty .

Bentley Men and Women XC Have Strong Showing

Led by top-ten performances by sophomore Melissa Mormann and freshman Jenny Farrell, Bentley College placed second in the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Cross Country Championships Sunday at Saint Anselm College.

Meanwhile, the men’s team, powered by the third top-five finish in four years by senior Lou Raffetto, finished third in the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Cross Country Championships.

Diane Ferullo Named Coach of the Year By NE-10

Bentley College women’s tennis coach, Diane Ferullo, and six of her players were honored by the Northeast-10 Conference for their performances this season. Ferullo won Coach of the Year honors for leading the Falcons to their second straight 12-win season (tying the school record).

Republicans- Bilingual Education: A Savage Hypocrisy

This Tuesday, voters in Colorado and Massachusetts will be offered the choice of ending bilingual education in their native states. However, the usual litany of opposition has surfaced, claiming that those in favor of ending the practice are savage Hispanic-haters and are squelching diversity in the name of assimilation.

On the night of October 19, 2002 I thoughtlessly and maliciously vandalized the property of Bentley College. I could not contain my stress after a terrible week and made the decision to drink heavily on Saturday night in an attempt to make me feel better, which is never a proper resolution.

We at The Vanguard would like to think that a campaign that relieves people of their spare change, while benefiting a great cause, is reason enough for students to donate and help in the Mile of Dimes campaign.
