Ott Helps Falcons Soccer Team Stun Merrimack

The Bentley College men’s soccer team won its fourth game of the season as they upset thirteenth ranked Merrimack, 1-0, at the Bentley College soccer complex Monday afternoon.

Bentley goalie, freshman Greg Ott made his first start of the season and made five saves, including two impressive saves late in the game, to preserve his first shutout of his career, and a win for the Falcons.

Novis and Seven Others Are Honored by NE – 10

Eight Bentley athletes were recognized by the Northeast – 10 for their performances this past week. Junior Liz Novis and sophomore Dallas Mall topped the list of honorees. Novis was chosen as Goalkeeper of the Week after she recorded back to back shutouts in leading the field hockey team to a 2 – 0 week with wins over Stonehill and C.

The Soderquist Era Begins

First-year Bentley College hockey coach Ryan Soderquist, a former Falcon standout on the ice, will unveil his 2002-03 team this weekend when the Falcons battle Quinnipiac University on Friday night.

Soderquist, a 2000 Bentley graduate who takes over the helm this season after two years as an assistant coach, is the school’s all-time leading scorer with 173 points.

Falcon of the Week

Junior field hockey goalie Liz Novis helped Bentley College to two victories last week and is this week’s recipient of the Falcon of the Week award. Novis recorded back-to-back shutouts in a 2-0 week for the nationally ranked Falcons, extending her scoreless streak to 285 minutes and her shutout streak to four.

Eddy and Mall Shine as Bentley Crushes Bryant

Sophomore quarterback Marc Eddy threw for 313 yards and three touchdowns, including two to classmate Dallas Mall, who had another big night, as undefeated Bentley College doubled Bryant College, 44-22, in Northeast-10 Conference football Friday night.

It was the 10th straight regular season victory for Bentley, which led 30-7 after the opening quarter after erupting for 236 yards while scoring on its first four possessions.

Editorial: Graduates Wanted

Whether it is Bentley’s official title as the first business university, or the hard work of the Office of Career Services, the job outlook for Bentley’s graduating seniors does not appear to be a dire situation.

In a weak economy, many students were worried as to how they would fare when pursuing interviews and jobs.

As the community is aware, the Bentley College Falcon was stolen from its pedestal outside of the library almost 10 days ago. To date, there has been no information about its whereabouts.

I am writing to express my concern and to ask anyone who might have information about the Falcon to contact Campus Police immediately.

Why do we support the Boston area janitors’ strike against Unicco, the janitorial services contractor Bentley hires to clean the Graduate Center and some of the other buildings on campus?

75-80% of Unicco’s Boston area workers are part-time and have no health insurance.

Republicans: Remove Saddam, or face the consequences.

If you’ve been paying attention to the major news media lately, you would notice that they seem to have a tremendous desire to keep Saddam Hussein in power. Why else would Tom, Dan, Peter, the Times, and the Post be exaggerating the cost of war with Iraq at over $200 billion, speculate about possible economic damage such a war would cause, and even fabricate a “split” in the leadership of the Republican party after former Bush I national security adviser Brent Scowcraft came out against the idea? (Newsflash: the rumored “split” was a complete hoax – only two Republican senators in the entire Congress voted against the President’s resolution.

Democrats: Do we need the added problems of war?

Even before the tragic events of September 11 and its aftermath, there was a strain in the relationship between America and Iraq. In February 1998, amid rising tension over U.N. weapons inspections, the Clinton administration was prepared to engage in a bombing war with Iraq because Iraq was not providing unfettered access to UN weapons inspectors.
