Women Swimming Captures New England Cahmpionship

With records – both pool and team – being broken with incredible frequency, the Bentley College women captured their first New England Division II-III Swimming and Diving championship and the Falcon men placed second, behind cross-town rival Brandeis University.

Women’s Basketball Upset by Le Moyne in NE -10 Quarterfinals

For the first time in the tournament’s 21-year history, the Northeast-10 Conference women’s basketball semifinals will not include Bentley College.

Junior guard Shalyn Polinski scored 22 points and 6’3″ junior Stacy Schrader added 17 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks as sixth-seeded Le Moyne College upset third-ranked Bentley College, 65-59, in the NE-10 quarterfinals Tuesday night at the Dana Center.

Strong Showing for Women Track Team

Seniors Christine Kevan and Emily Carano combined to help set a school record in the 4×800 meter relay and lead Bentley College to its best finish in at least a decade at the Women’s New England Indoor Track and Field Championships, which concluded Saturday at Tufts University.

Men’s Basketball Advances to NE -10 Semifinals

The fourth seeded Bentley Falcons advanced to the semi-finals of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament with an impressive 88-74 victory over number five seed Southern New Hampshire University on Monday night.

Before the game, Bentley’s Kevin Van Dam and Jeff Bishop were honored as members of the Northeast-10 All-Conference second and third teams, respectively.

Falcon of the Week

After an outstanding weekend of swimming in which she helped Bentley College capture the New England Division II Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, freshman Angela Groccia has been named the “Falcon of the Week” at Bentley. During the three-day event, Groccia amassed 124 points (of a possible 130) by sweeping all three backstroke events (50, 100 and 200), participating on one winning relay and swimming on three other relays that placed second.

My letter is in response to “Clinton George’s” article in the February 21, 2002 issue of The Vanguard, the one where he (the author operating under this pen name) said, “The [Bentley College] administration ultimately whored themselves out like cheap hookers to this damaging and repressive type of left-wing idealism,” in reference to an issue that has surfaced regarding the content of the Ann Coulter flyers at Bentley.
