Out to Eat

By the end of the first week of school, it’s almost guaranteed that you will already be sick of eating at the Upper Caf‚, and the Lower Caf‚ will seem like the same old thing over and over again. So, it’s basically a must to go out to eat somewhere, so that your diet will consist of some actual food. My suggestion? Find somewhere that suits your fancy, and spend some of that cash your mom sent you to treat yourself to an off-campus dinner. Of course, once you’ve decided to leave campus, the issue will become: where do I go?

The first spot, and perhaps the easiest to think of, will be right off of the Harvard Square shuttle bus and into the Chili’s restaurant right there on the corner. If that place doesn’t suit you, there is always Pizzeria Uno’s and Bertucci’s right around the corner in Harvard Square.

There are also places off of various T (subway) stops that you may want to take a look at. The Government Center stop, off the green line, has a place called Quincy Market. Quincy Market has any type of food you can dream of where you can walk up to the counter and order. Quincy market has Indian food, New England Clam Chowder, North End Bakery, plain hamburgers and hot dogs, seafood places, Chinese and other Asian foods, and anything else you can possibly think of. This situation is ideal when you are shopping in that area and just want to grab a bite to eat. Also, there are other restaurants located on that stop, including the North End (famous for its Italian eateries), and various seafood places where you can sit down and eat with a waitress serving you.

In Waltham, if you want to take a local shuttle, you can get to Friendly’s, Grassfield’s, Burger King, and Dunkin Donuts, which are all good places to eat if the Caf‚ has gotten you into a “real” food-craving mood. Other places in Waltham, although not close to a local shuttle stop, include The Green Papaya, which is a Thai food restaurant located next to Bertucci’s (Italian food) both on Totten Pond Road. The Naked Fish is also right down the street from there, too. Andro’s Diner is on Trapelo Road, and Dominoes is right near Blockbuster on Beaver St.

There are plenty of places to find to eat, and if you are going to a T stop in Boston there are usually a plethora of good restaurants along the way. Good luck food searching, and if you get stuck, just search on the Internet for directions to different places and you won’t go hungry.
